MLZS, Amritsar endorses the view that the future belongs to those who are prepared for life. Thus, following the same, this year our students got an opportunity to participate in the most reputed Model United Nations of the country as they represented our school at the 13th edition of The Doon School Model United Nations. A delegation of our students attended India’s largest MUN the Modern School MUN in New Delhi. Bringing laurels to the school these first time delegates proved their mettle and Zyna Dhillon and Kaashvi Arora won a verbal mention at the conference. The students, also attended 3rd edition of Military History Seminar hosted by Welham’s Boys School, Dehradun. Further, Encouraging our young entrepreneurs for product advertisement and retailing, a team went to LPS Business Conclave, Mohali.
Inculcating Artificial Intelligence is a part of our curriculum; a team of Mount Literans bagged the BEST GAME DEVELOPMENT team award at Satpaul Mittal School, Ludhiana.
And of course the crowning glory was the Traditional folk dance trophy that our team won at the Geofest International Competition held at City Montessori School, Lucknow in which almost 1000 students from 80 schools across the globe participated. Once again we thank Mrs Smiley Choudhary and Mrs Gowri Bansal for the guidance they provided our students. The relentless efforts put by Mrs Jyoti Sharma and Mr Lokesh deserve a special mention and perhaps a well deserved loud round of applause. They have made not only the school but also the city and the country proud. Steve Jobs had said, “ Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.” And Mount Litera has always been a torchbearer of innovation and this academic year we incorporated in our mainstream academic program some path ingenious practices and pedagogies.
A singular and unmatchable initiative that needs to be highlighted was to forge an academic alliance with Edfinity to bring right here for our students a combination of elite international faculty with credentials from Stanford, Harvard, Princeton, MIT and Oxford for instruction. This initiative is supported by National Science Foundation and the United States Government.
It is noteworthy MLZS is one of the only six schools in the entire country and only one in the North to collaborate with Edfinity India thereby providing Mt. Literans a glorious opportunity to learn from the world’s best educators.
Albert Einstein said, “I never teach my pupils, I only provide the conditions in which they can learn.” And such is the vision of the mentors at Mount Litera. Our students were empowered to become in charge of their own learning and take leadership roles while teaching their peers through our initiative Brainy Buddies. The students donned the mantle of teachers and taught their juniors important concepts from the syllabus. The results were phenomenal learning both for the tutor and the tutee. The ingenious practice as an exemplar of innovation heralded at innumerable conferences across the country.
At Mount Litera we understand that not all classrooms have walls. We believe travel is like an endless university where you never stop learning. This summer, our young enthusiasts had a whale of a time as the school organised an educational trip to United States of America, wherein they visited to Kennedy Space Centre $NASA, Columbia University, Universal Studio, Disney Land and witnessed the launch of space shuttle and rejoiced in being a part of this unmatched experience.
We earnestly follow the dictum given by Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji ftfdnk ftukoh sK goT[gekoh
Only that kind of education is worth its name which makes a man a socially useful person, one who spends his life in the service of humanity.
Social services are an important part of the school calendar at MLZS. Our students personified empathy and compassion when given a chance to contribute to the Punjab Flood Relief campaign.. Keeping in mind the current threat that the hazardous practice of stubble burning, has posed to our environment, and lead by a motivated team of parents our students took on the role of ‘ ambassadors of anti-stubble burning campaign. Their efforts were lauded by Shri Dhruv Dahiya, SSP Tarn Taran and Shri Pardeep Kumar Sabarwal, Deputy Commissioner Tarn Taran. In order to create awareness for the widespread menace of dengue, a rally was organized by the students which was flagged off by District Education officer S. Salwinder Singh Samra. Not only this, the students of grade 4 collected one item each of daily necessity and donated in Shaheed Harbans Lal Khanna Bal Kala Vatika. Thus, expanding their worldview developing empathy and leadership skills.
